It usually costs less to insure your vehicles under a Motor Fleet policy and if you have the occasional accident, the risk is balanced out over the rest of the vehicles so your premiums won’t usually increase dramatically. Who can drive the vehicles covered by Motor Fleet Insurance?
Fleet insurance is typically on an ‘Any Driver’ basis but in recent years, Insurers have looked to restrict driving to ‘Any Driver under 25’ years of age. That’s not to say Insurers won’t insure younger drivers, but usually they want to limit their exposure and will specifically name younger drivers and maybe restrict them to certain vehicles.

What if one of my Employees needs to drive for work but has a motoring conviction?
Provided the conviction is not too serious, for example an SP30 speeding conviction, this will not be a problem until drivers have more than 6 penalty points. For more serious convictions, Insurers will usually look to impose special terms for that driver as they represent an increase perceived risk. These could be an increased excess in the event of an accident or restricting cover to a specific vehicle and only allowing driving when necessary for work only and not allowing driving for social, domestic and pleasure purposes.
